SkinPen Precision Microneedling
What Is Microneedling and Collagen Induction Therapy?
Microneedling treatment with SkinPen Precision uses a set of very thin needles to create micro-channels in the skin that penetrate the layers by a few millimetres.

This controlled injury does two things. Firstly, it stimulates the body's natural wound-healing responses, releasing cytokines and growth factors to repair and renew the skin, working as a Collagen Induction Therapy. Secondly, the micro-channels create a direct route into the skin to deliver active ingredients for regeneration and targeted treatments.
What Are the Benefits of Microneedling?
Using the SkinPen Precision microneedling device helps target the signs of ageing, reducing fine lines and wrinkles, sun spots, and improving skin texture concerns.

It also improves the appearance of scarring, including acne and chicken pox scars, and stretch marks. Suitable for all skin types and colours, it can be used on all parts of the face and body where targeted intervention is needed to rejuvenate the skin and resolve scars. The type of skin concern will determine the depth of microneedling and the combination of serums used during treatment.

Answers to Your Questions, All in One Place.
Microneedling is a skin remodelling treatment often called Collagen Induction Therapy. The pen-like device — SkinPen Precision — creates multiple micro-channels in the skin, up to a few millimetres deep, as the microneedle tip is moved across the surface. These controlled micro-traumas trigger a wound-healing response, encouraging the body to repair the area by producing new collagen and elastin, which regenerates the tissue in the treated area. This natural repair supports skin rejuvenation for anti-ageing and is also effective for repairing previously damaged and scarred areas. The microchannels also facilitate the penetration of active ingredients in topical serums, allowing crucial biostimulators, like exosomes, to pass beyond the skin barrier into the dermal layers where they can work most effectively, aiding the ongoing wound-healing process. This enhances the regenerative power of the treatment.
SkinPen Precision is the first medical microneedling device to be FDA-cleared in the USA, approved there for the treatment of facial acne scars and for improving the appearance of wrinkles on the neck, making it a world-leading tool for Collagen Induction Therapy. It also holds a Class IIa CE Certification in the UK as a regulated medical device for clinical use to treat facial acne scars, surgical scars, stretch marks, enlarged pores, and pigmentation conditions (dyschromia) on the face and body.
It has an adjustable needle depth from 0.25mm to 2.5mm.
Microneedling and Collagen Induction Therapy are ideal for targeting the signs of ageing (fine lines and wrinkles), treating certain pigmentation concerns caused by sun exposure such as dyschromia, improving poor skin texture and enlarged pores, reducing acne scarring (including ice pick, rolling and boxcar types), chicken pox scars, and stretch marks, and for improving the appearance of other scarring associated with surgery or trauma.
During some of our microneedling treatments, we apply topical biostimulators in the form of pHformula’s EXOS biomimetic exosomes concentrate. Exosomes are tiny extracellular vesicles that act like messengers or delivery drivers, carrying and transferring materials between cells.
EXOS is a professional-grade regenerative serum, suitable for all skin types, designed to enhance recovery after microneedling treatments. It contains biomimetic exosomes, encapsulated growth factors, and a DNA protect complex. Acting as a bio-transmitter to stimulate deeper cellular repair, it helps to reduce inflammation and redness, boost collagen for firmer skin, and accelerate skin barrier repair. For optimal results, we use it during treatment and give the remainder to you to apply at home after treatment to speed up skin recovery.
Your comfort throughout your microneedling treatment is of paramount importance to us.
Depending on the specific skin concern being treated, we customise the treatment protocols for the SkinPen Precision microneedling device. This will include the depth of needle penetration required to achieve the best results for Collagen Induction Therapy. For targeted and intensive treatments, we will always apply a topical anaesthetic or numbing cream to the area before we begin treatment.
The SkinPen Precision system is a regulated Class IIa medical device. It uses patented, single-use, non-porous needle cartridges, fitted into the tip of the handpiece, which are replaced for each use. The system has also been engineered to use a single-use plastic cover to prevent fluid from travelling from the cartridge into the handpiece, preventing cross-contamination.
Microneedling is safe to use on men and women of all skin types and colours and can be used on all parts of the face and body. Your suitability for the various treatment options will be determined during your consultation and skin analysis.
If you have broken or damaged skin, or an active skin infection, including viral infections like herpes simplex (cold sores), or active acne, this will need to be treated and resolved before microneedling treatment. If you are currently pregnant or breastfeeding, we will not be able to treat you using the SkinPen Precision microneedling, but you will be suitable for our liquid microneedling option with MesoResurfacing.
After microneedling treatment, you should expect minimal downtime with a simple recovery process. You will be able to return to your normal activities immediately. For 24-48 hours, you can expect your skin to appear red or a little pink, depending on the depth of the treatment. If you have received a more targeted treatment for scar reduction, this may be more pronounced and include pinprick-sized spots of bleeding that scab over and naturally slough off after a couple of days. This is normal, and you should avoid picking, scratching or using abrasive exfoliant products on the area.
You will be given full aftercare instructions, which will include details on how to cleanse the area and how to apply any remaining serums from the solutions used during your treatment. Ideally, you should avoid wearing makeup for two days after treatment and avoid direct sun exposure for several days.
Again, depending on the intensity of treatment, you may also experience a slight swelling of the skin as a reaction to the controlled trauma. This will usually settle down after 24 hours.
Results from microneedling and Collagen Induction Therapy are not immediately visible. This is a stimulatory, regenerative treatment that relies on triggering natural wound-healing responses in the body, alongside deployment of active ingredients and biostimulators like exosomes to increase the production of new collagen and elastin for self-repair to lessen the signs of ageing or improve the appearance of scarring.
The results you will see are incremental, and why we recommend a course of treatment to achieve continuous increments. You should start to notice improvements in skin quality 2-3 weeks after your initial treatment, and the same time frame after subsequent treatments within your course of treatment. Treatment programmes are typically spread over 3 to 6 months, with treatment sessions every 2-4 weeks to allow time for natural collagen and elastin stimulation. Your final result is expected approximately 1 month after your final session.
Results from Collagen Induction Therapy for skin rejuvenation usually last up to 6 months after completion of a course of treatment, often longer for concerns related to scarring.
Depending on the targeted treatment, we may recommend maintenance microneedling sessions every 3 to 6 months.
