Tear Trough Filler

The tear trough is the area that runs directly underneath the eye and commonly has a hollow or sunken appearance, sometimes with a very defined, visible groove from the inner corner of the eye across the top of the upper cheek towards the other corner of the eye. The tear trough area is often shadowed or darkened, giving a tired appearance, even when the person is well rested. Tear trough discrepancies can present at different ages and are associated with genetics, ageing, and volume loss.

Tear trough filler treatments address hollowing and shadowing under the eyes using specific hyaluronic acid products to add carefully measured amounts of volume with formulations that do not attract excessive water to the area.

Ideal candidates present with volume loss in the tear trough rather than those individuals with significant skin laxity or puffiness under the eyes (eye bags), who may benefit from surgical blepharoplasty.
